“Update broke add to playlist. My playlist is completely broken since the update. Play next seems to work consistently but the add to playlist who knows what’s next.”

“Updated Tile Size - Boooo. I use the app daily, and have for more than a decade. There are some playback and other AI features that suck and make the app ‘jerky’, but my biggest complaint is graphical interface. Tiles are huge, and take up whole screen. I used to see 4-5 shows on screen with some description, now it’s just 1 or 2 tiles with no description. It deflates the user experience and makes setting up a queue cumbersome. More clicking from screen to screen. I hate it. The only screen that looks like the old interface is “recent episodes “ Give users an option on how to view. Maybe some people like spending more time searching and clicking. I do not.”

“Autoplays in the car when i don’t want it to. Title. It ALWAYS autoplays when i get in the car, even when i haven’t used the app voluntarily in a long while. It’s terrible. There is NO WAY to make it stop, and this has apparently been a problem for years based on a quick google search. Add an option to disable autoplay from bluetooth, and maybe i will reinstall. For now this will stay removed from my devices.”

“Unskippable ads. It seems in the last update they tried to make it so users cannot skip ads. Whatever the goal, now the skip forward and skip backwards, buttons, glitch, and playback stops after each ad. Interacting to restart playback every 2 to 5 minutes completely destroys core podcast functionality as background entertainment. I am happy to update this review if the glitch is fixed.”

“Crashes and slow to sync. I have an iPad A16 running iOS 27.0.1. This app runs like garbage. It constantly crashes and is very, very slow to sync podcasts. I also have a Vision Pro which uses the iPad app on that platform and I have exactly the same problems. The iPhone and Mac Podcasts app work fine. But this iPad version is just garbage. I’m seriously considering switching to Pocket Cast to get consistent syncing and performance across all my devices.”

“No longer able to open. After latest iOS update, the app will not load at all. I have restarted my phone multiple times and deleted and readded the app. Until there is a fix, the app is unusable for me.”

“Glitchy and unresponsive. With iOS 27, and maybe before, the app becomes completely unresponsive. A text will come in and the app goes dark. I often have to restart my phone just to make it work. This was happening with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, on the beta for iOS 27 and without the beta and with the iPhone 18 Pro Max. I discontinued a subscription to the Overcast app because I thought I’d save a few bucks. Going back to support a small business / app developer because Apple can’t seem to make this app worth it … to me. If you love it, have at it. I do not.”

“Garbage notifications if unable to play. STOP announcing new podcast episodes and then have them unable to play. I have to go to Spotify just to listen to an actual new episode on time!”
