Reddit Premium is an optional paid upgrade. How do upvotes and karma work? Instead of likes and hearts, Reddit runs on upvotes and downvotes. Voting raises or lowers a post's visibility, so relevant, high-quality posts rise to the top while low-effort ones fade out. Voting also affects karma, a running score tied to your posts and comments. Karma doesn't limit what you can do, but more of it can help your posts get noticed, and some communities ask for a little karma before you post or comment to help keep out spam. Reddit Premium: Purchase Reddit Premium to enjoy an ads-free experience and access to premium avatar gear, r/lounge, custom app icons, and more. Payment will be charged on a recurring monthly or annual basis to your Apple account. Your monthly or annual Premium subscription will automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before your subscription ends. Cancel anytime in your device's Account Settings. “Don't download just use the website. Forced AB testing Forced Feed Refreshing Tons of ads I'm done using the reddit app it garbage”
“Trash Platform. Reddit was amazing in the early days. In the current era of Reddit, the communities are governed by unpaid moderators that follow specific ideologies and will ban you for anything outside of the echo chamber. You can be banned just for subscribing to other communities that these mods are threatened by.”
“Broken task bar on Home Screen. If you open a post and swipe left to get back to the Home Screen, your task bar with Home, Inbox and My profile is no longer there.”
“I hate not being able to read what I'm typing!!!. This latest update has made commenting horrendous. If I type more than 2 lines of text, it stays at those 2 lines until I type to the 4th line, then I can read what I had written! This is bad UI”
“Pop-up on website. Is there something wrong in your head? Making your entire website unusable with a pop up that won’t go away telling me to use your app? And it’s embarassing how you’re not even trying to hide that you’re doing it cause you want more data.”
“Removed the option to disable suggested content. This makes it unusable for me please add this option back. My feed instantly became cluttered with stuff I don't want”
“Most recent update broke a bunch of features. Can’t sort anymore, can’t search, app is shoe-horned into everything. Sad to see the downfall of Reddit”
“Crashes. Glitches but you have to have the app since they nuked the mobile browser site.”
“Website now forces app download on mobile. Nothing bothers me more than when a company forces their users to change the way they consume their product for the sake of data harvesting. I know I’m set in my ways with not using the app on mobile, but I don’t like the layout for the app. If I’m using a search engine to find an answer to something and when I click it, I get a “Get the app to keep using reddit” unskippable popup over what I was looking for (while I’m already logged into reddit on my browser), sending me to the app store for an app I already have is NOT GOING TO HELP. I don’t want to have to look for that same thread in the app after.”
“No privacy. No anonymity.. I just had a crazy, yet eye opening experience with the Reddit app. Apparently, I’ve been targeted by a mod of r/Roku. They banned me temporarily, then permanently for “piracy”. Incredibly confusing since the word or concept never entered a conversation. I messaged the mods to ask what’s up, thinking there was a mistake. The mod that replied grilled me about how I acquired my personal media collection, which is something I had discussed with another user. The mod was snotty and accusatory. When I realized the conversation wasn’t going anywhere, I felt I’d been debased by them, so I called them an uptight freak. Blocked and banned, as expected. Good riddance. (It’s my understanding that Roku has official customer support through this subreddit, and I wonder if they know there are psychopaths harassing their customers). After a while, I let my niece use my phone to access her Reddit account. Completely different account, username, email address… I guess she answered a question on r/Roku - with no restrictions or black marks on her account - and BOTH of our accounts were banned for a week. They accused me of trying to circumvent the block from r/Roku. So much drama! It’s absolutely demented that Reddit is tracking devices linked to accounts and implementing “punishment”. The entire platform is riddled with bots, trolls, scammers, perverts, underaged girls (who are probably trafficked) promoting their OnlyFans… I spend the majority of my time on Reddit offering advice and support for mental health, addiction and pet medical issues. Yeah, I’m a real evil character. I resent being bullied by the r/Roku mod and I’m deeply disturbed that Reddit enforces that type of behavior while violating me and my family’s privacy by keeping weirdly close tabs on my device.”
