  “No. The advertisements are many and short between, very repetitive, not interesting at all. Why show so many just for them to repeat over and over I can’t. 5 ads in one ad break and THEYRE ALL the same. And 4-5 ads during a 46min period with ads before the beginning and after the end. Goodness gracious. And streaming is so expensive nowadays. I find it difficult to keep the tv on though the ads. I had to cancel my subscription. Hulu is the same as hbo and so is Disney!!!!! Boo tomato”

They should really fix this feature. It is an awful viewing experience and completely ruins the vibe. Please fix this. It makes the app seem cheap.”

  “Poor QOL. I can’t say much about the selection of media they have. I really only use it for dc shows. But the ui is fairly outdated and feels sluggish when trying to forward something. And there’s no ‘next episode’ button to end episodes early either. It’s interesting that they can have so much money but don’t bother to use it to make their app more convenient.”

  “What are you app developers doing??. With the update I received this week I can’t use my usb c dongle. Now the app won’t keep my logged in. I’m trying to figure out what I’m paying for if this trash y'all created doesn’t work. There should be a refund for the days I’m not able to access what I’m paying for. I just quit Netflix and now I’m thinking of adding HBOMax to my list.”

  “Great selection, terrible app!. I love the selection that HBO max has to offer however, everytime I close/open whatever I’m watching, the video starts about 30 seconds to multiple minutes before wherever I was. This is incredible frustrating especially when I have to rewatch ads multiple times. The app is also very buggy. Sometimes the video features won’t appear so I’m unable to fast forward to where I left off and then I have to close out the show and start all over. Other times there’s no sound so I have to repeat that same process.”

  “Least functional major streaming app. HBO has the worst functionality of all major streaming apps and needs some serious fixes to become a usable app. Any time an ad plays or you have to pause, it picks back up in a different part of the episode. Sometimes an entirely different episode, which then forces you to watch 4 more series of ads just to get back through the loading bar to the spot you were actually watching. This happens on my TV, phone and laptop. I’ve followed all troubleshooting steps for each device multiple times not limited to deleting and reinstalling and nothing fixes this problem. The research states it’s a cloud issue but I’m starting to wonder if it’s by design to force more ads or get people to pay more for no ads because HBO is the only streaming app with this issue. There’s also been times where I’ve gone into the app to watch an HBO original show and tons of shows and movies that are definitely supposed to be on the app are completely missing. Many people have the same complaints in various help threads and it seems there’s no fix available, especially for the loading the app wrong episode / part of the episode issue. Ultimately, it feels like trying to use an outdated, no longer fully working version of an app on an old device. Meanwhile all software is up to date and everything is brand new.”
