  “Great app, but…. The concept of Duolingo is incredible. Gamifying language learning. Thing is, 60% of the time spent on the app is spent clicking through random screens, opening treasure chests, dodging ads, and whatever else they throw at you! Again, the concept is great & when I’m actually using the app for its purpose, I’m happy. It just feels as though that purpose has been long lost from what the whole concept of the app is. I usually end up quitting the app because it consumes my time more than attributes to it.”

  “Title: Over Five Years of Loyalty, Nearly 2,000 Days of Commitment, and No Consideration for Long-Te. I am extremely disappointed with Duolingo after being a paying customer for more than five years. For years, I faithfully renewed my Super Duolingo subscription, practiced English almost every day, and built a streak of nearly 2,000 days. This was not just another app for me. I invested my money, time, and commitment into this platform. My previous annual subscription cost approximately $83.99. When it came time to renew, I was presented with a price of approximately $119.99 on my iPhone, while the website displayed a different price of approximately $93.99. I contacted customer support, explained my situation, provided evidence of my previous payment, and expressed my disappointment with the substantial price increase. I also explained that my nearly 2,000-day streak had expired less than 24 hours earlier. Instead of finding a reasonable solution or receiving meaningful consideration for my loyalty, I was left deeply disappointed by the response. My biggest concern is not simply the price increase. It is the apparent lack of appreciation for customers who have supported this company financially and remained committed to its platform for years. I understand that businesses can change their prices. However, I also believe that customer loyalty, retention, and fair treatment should matter. After more than five years, I have decided not to continue paying for Super Duolingo under these conditions. I am sharing my experience so other consumers can carefully consider the subscription costs, renewal terms, and level of customer support before making a long-term financial commitment. A company may gain new subscribers through advertising, but it earns lasting trust through the way it treats its existing customers. Customer loyalty should be valued, not taken for granted.”

  “Hello? Anybody home?. No matter how many times you report a bug and no matter how serious it is, the best you will get is an automated AI response signed with “Duolingo AI” and absolutely no help at all. For over a week now I can only do the same exact lesson with the same exact questions over and over again no matter what lesson I try picking. I reported the bug and the Duolingo AI told me “there are no further supported troubleshooting steps to offer”. There have been 2 updates to the app since I started reporting this and neither have fixed this critical issue. I’m now forced to end my 5 year streak and move to another app and I will look into charging back as much of the 4+ years of family plan I paid for as I can. It’s actually gross how an app meant for teaching languages, one of the most human things there is, is completely run by AI and greed. Disgusting.”

  “Dulling rating. Hello, I rate Duolingo 3/5 stars because, it takes a while to learn stuff you will use all the time like hello and goodbye. This would not be good if you had a trip to go on withing the next week. Another thing is that there are too many adds, after everything I do on Duolingo there is an add. Last is that we run out of energy to quick. I think Duolingo should change it back to hearts an if you mess up a question you loose a heart. Have a good day everyone. Thank you”

  “Good but annoying with the lies. Duo lingo is a great app, the notifications need to chill tho, they make it seem like girls are texting you and i almost got into a argument for it, also other notifications just straight up lie saying you are going to lose your streak when i just completed a lesson 20 mins ago, i don’t wanna feel pressured to do this because then i lose interest, let me work on my own pace or else im just going to stop using the app!”
