How many downloads do you need?

Pick the revenue you want each month. The calculator works back through your price, the share of downloads that pay and how long subscribers stay, and tells you the downloads a month it takes.

Your goal and your app

Steady downloads every month, no refunds or free trials that don't convert. Use it to size a goal, not to predict one.

How many downloads does $10K a month take?

Start from the revenue you want. The calculator works back through your price, the share of downloads that pay and how long subscribers stay.

  • Downloads a month
  • Paying users
  • Year one vs later

Why the answer moves so much.

Conversion is the big lever

Going from 1% to 2% of downloads paying halves the downloads you need. That is usually cheaper to fix (paywall, onboarding, trial) than doubling downloads.

Year one is the hard part

A subscription app starts at zero. Until renewals pile up you need more downloads than you will later, which is why the first number is higher than the steady one.

Churn sets the ceiling

With monthly plans, subscribers stop growing once those who cancel equal those who join. Lower churn means fewer downloads to hold the same revenue.

Check it against real apps

A goal that needs 50,000 downloads a month is a top-chart goal in many categories. Compare with the downloads apps at each rank get before you plan around it.
